Most people understand that it pays to have a team of professionals backing them up. Perhaps you have already started building that team. Maybe you have an accountant who does your taxes every year or a financial advisor who handles your investment and insurance needs. A lot of people don’t think about including a realtor in their team of professionals, but there are benefits and advantages to including us in your back pocket.
Here are three reasons why you should have a relationship with your realtor full-time:
- Your Realtor Won’t Stop Working for You
Oftentimes when people are in the market for a new home, they will make compromises. Limited budget, time or availability may cause you to settle for something a little less than your dream home.
However, if you have been keeping in touch with your realtor and your ideal home just happens to pop up on the market a year or two later, there is a good chance they will remember you and present you with the opportunity.
Remember, that while you may be looking at homes for two or three months, your real estate agent is always looking at homes. Imagine all the great places that are popping up on the market when you are not looking!
- You Will Most Likely Need Your Realtor Again
On average, people buy three homes in their lifetime and it can be difficult to find the right realtor to represent you.
If you were happy with the services of your realtor the first time that you bought or sold a home, why would you want to have to start from ground zero the next time you purchase a home? Even if you are planning to move to a city outside of your realtor’s sales area, they can still help you sell your home and they might even be able to connect you with another realtor in the area that you are moving to.
If you already have an existing relationship with your realtor, your next home buying experience will be that much easier.
- Your Realtor Can Connect You with Other Professionals
Realtors build their businesses by making connections with other professionals. If you need the services of a contractor, painter, lawyer or home-appraiser, chances are that your realtor will be able to refer you to someone.
Your realtor has likely had a lot of experience in working with people in these (and similar) professions. They will know who does the best work, who offers the most competitive prices and even who you might want to steer clear from.
If you are a professional yourself, you may even be referred to others by your realtor especially if you have established a relationship with them.
